Richard Miller Yardley OBE | |
Richard Miller Yardley will be most remembered as the "dentist in Bore Street", but there was a great deal more to his life than that. Born in Lichfield, he followed his father into dentistry qualifying in the late 1940s and, after National Service and a brief sojourn in Southend, he began his professional life in the Bore Street practice; eventually retiring in 1988. During his working life he became President of the British Dental Association and devoted much of his career to the many organisations in Lichfield, including as Vice President of the Lichfield Operatic Society and President of Lichfield Science and Engineering Society. We, of course, remember Richard most as a long serviing Committee member, as an excellent Chairman and President of our Society and for his continued support for our activities. Richard will be sadly missed by his family and friends, members of our Society and of the many other organisations with which he had been involved. D[avid] D[uffy] |
