Lichfield Civic Society - Commendations

Our records show that the Society's commendations have generally been a framed certificate. However, no examples of the design used before 2014 have so far been found.



2020 - Commendations (2)

a. The redecoration of Mill House, Dam Street.
"In recognition of the high standard of exterior redecoration of the property and careful repointing of the Pool Keeper's bothy on Reeve Lane with lime mortar."

b. The restoration of the former 1858 malthouse on Davidson Road.
"In recognition of the work to bring the 1858 malthouse beside Robert Davies Walk back into commercial use."

2018 - Commendations (3)

a. The restoration of No. 6 Sandford Street.
"In recognition of repairs and refurbishment works of a high standard carried out on this notable 15th century, Grade II listed, timber-framed building."

b. The new Community Fire Station on Birmingham Road.
"A good example of a current style of building design exemplified by its modular appearance and limited use of strong colors. The building is set well within the site significantly improving the Birmingham Road street scene. A feature of the Fire Station is the provision of facilities for community use."

c. The rebuilding of the City Arcade, between Market Street and Bore Street, Lichfield.

2014 - Commendations (2)

a. Lichfield Methodist Church, Tamworth Street, Lichfield.
"In recognition of the design and high standard of works in the remodelling of the entrance and refurbishment of the interior".

b. St Johns Hotel, 28 St Johns Street, Lichfield.
"In recognition of the care taken to restore this Grade II* listed building and the standard of design and construction of the rear extensions".

2006 - Commendations (2)

a. Fresh Space and the Brownhill-Heywood Brown partnership.
"For the design of The Old Stoneyard, Cross Keys."

b. The new Music Centre at King Edward's School.

2004 - Commendation

Beacon Street Garage.
For sponsoring the flowerbeds on Swan Island, The Friary.

2002 - Commendation

St John's Hospital, St Johns Street.

1995 - Commendation

The Co-op Funeral Parlour, Birmingham Road.

1994 - Commendation

Beacon Street Garage.
In recognition of their sponsorship of the landscaping of the Swan Road / Friary roundabout.

"For the refurbishment and extention of council-owned flats in Bloomfield Crescent."

The Refuse Tip in Trent Valley Road.
"In recognition of the efforts of the staff at the bulk domestic waste site, Apart from the standard of tidiness they manage to maintain, the garden along the perimeter fence is particularly appreciated. Outstanding efforts in a very hostile environment"
